Captain Dave and 1st Mate, Matt, were outstanding.  Knowledgeable, helpful and personable.  There were 5 of us and we each caught at least one striper.  One was a 50-pounder.  Hooked a couple sharks as a bonus, one of which we fought for 30 minutes. We also did some bottom fishing and caught sea bass and flounder.  Matt filleted some of the sea bass for the night’s dinner. It was a great day, and we’ll definitely book with Spear-it next summer!

Don’t fish in the bay, super boring. If you’re lucky enough to have first mate, Matt H, he’s a savant with the line untangling which is why he was at Harvard for two weeks before becoming a first mate. Can’t miss with these guys!

The spear it charter was one of the most eventful days I’ve had fishing in a long time. Non stop action of every species. Bonita, striped bass, blue fish, scup and sea bass made for a day full of fun. Great day on the water despite some tough weather.  Captain worked hard to keep us on fish and knew exactly where they would be. Huge striped bass caught on light tackle with eels. After the sharks took over (big fish, great fight), we switched to sea bass and fluke for a nice haul to make lots of fish tacos.  Overall fun day with great crew, excellent boat and equipment.
